HIGH SAFETY STANDARDS
Product quality is monitored at the Refinery on an on-going basis by the company's team of qualified chemists and analysts, using internationally recognized test methods, such as the ASTM-American Society for Testing Material and the Institute of Petroleum Standard Test Methods.
Adhering strictly to the petroleum industry's environmental standards, the company is a member of the Clean Caribbean Cooperative (CCC), a regional organization, which maintains a system for rapid response for oil spill containment and recovery in the Caribbean Sea.
In addition, the Safety and Environment Department works closely with national response teams in Jamaica for both land and sea oil recovery and emergency clean up of spills, as well as in fighting chemical fires. Company-owned fire, emergency and safety equipment and personnel are kept on stand-by for all emergencies.
Although Jamaica is not an oil producing country, by strategic management of the refinery's products and services, it continues to earn and save valuable foreign exchange from its operations.
